Release Date: 10th February 2009
Myriad v3.5 is a significant update to the Myriad v3 Product and there are
several things to consider before installing Myriad v3.5. For a much more in
depth review of the changes since Myriad v3.0, please see the latest "Update
Information" which can be found next to the Myriad v3.5.9 download link.
Related Products:

higher to work with Myriad v3.5
- OCP:
You should be running OCP v2.6.43 or higher to work with Myriad v3.5
- Remote Voice Tracking/Remote Edit Server: You should be

Known Issues in this version of Myriad:
- On some computers, users may notice the icons on the right hand side
of Carts (Ending, Hook, Info etc.) dissapear periodically. You can
restore these by scrolling the Audiowall view away and back.
- When editing mp3 files, if you click right at the end of the waveform
display Myriad can exit.
- On some computers, when you quit from Myriad, Windows shows a message
saying the program had an error and is being closed, this may also
happen when cancelling the Setup Wizard.
Known Issues with Myriad on Windows Vista:
- The CD Ripping files will not be fully registered on the computer, so
after installation completes you need to manually register the it using
this command: regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Common Files\P Squared
Shared\Smoothstream\PSQAudioCDGrabber2.dll"
- You should disable Windows Aero to improve audio performance when
manipulating windows.
- You will need to configure and License Myriad for each user account
that you logon with. We recommend that you just install, configure and
use Myriad under a single account.
Installation Notes:
Myriad v3.5 can be installed on the same computer as Myriad v3.0, which is
ideal for testing of v3.5 prior to changing to it 'full time', and also should
you experience any problems you can easily revert back to v3.0.
Before installing Myriad you must quit from all running P Squared
applications on that computer, and we recommend that you also take this
opportunity to run a Compact/Repair on your Station Database(s) as well as on
your P Squared Contacts and Users Directory.
When you first run Myriad v3.5 it attempts to import as many settings from
v3.0 as possible but some cannot be imported so you should check that the
following are set correctly:
- Number of Cart Players as well as which soundcard Outputs/inputs
these are configured to use.
- Hardware Card Configuration
You should keep in mind that there are some pieces of information that Myriad
v3.5 stores that earlier versions of Myriad, Scoop and AutoTrack (i.e. pre v3.5)
cannot understand. The most common items to be aware of are :
- Versions of Myriad/AutoTrack/Scoop prior to v3.5 cannot play carts
that are not WAV based. If you try to edit these items in these older
products then it is likely that they will then not be able to be played
in Myriad v3.5
- When you first run Myriad v3.5 it runs a 'Validate' process on the
Audiowall that converts any existing Cart notes to a different format,
so if you later add notes to a cart using an older program then Myriad
v3.5 will not be able to see them until you manually run the Validation
process again.
- The main 'Jump Buttons' displayed at the top of the Audiowall are
converted to a new format when you first run Myriad, so after this
process has completed any changes to these will not be shown in the
other version of Myriad.
Hardware Recommendations:
Myriad v3.5 uses more resources than previous versions due to the improved
graphics, as well support for non-wav based Carts. Because of this you may
notice that Myriad 'feels' slower on the same hardware as Myriad v3.0. In many
cases users do not need to do a lot to improve their system speed and the
following recommendations should be followed:
- Windows XP Users should ensure they have at least 512MB of memory,
1GB is preferred.
- Windows Vista Users should ensure they have at least 1GB of memory,
2GB is preferred.
- Windows Vista Users should turn off the Windows Aero feature.
- Defragment your local hard disks as heavily fragmented hard drives
can cause significant performance loss.
- Run Myriad on it's own Network Segment - having too many computers
sharing the same 'flat' network can cause slowdowns accessing network
resources.
- Ensure you have at least 2GB of usable disk space on your main "C:"
drive, as well as plenty of free space on the drive that your Myriad
Data is stored on. Remember that when using SmoothEdit, each hour long
segment that you are editing needs up to 640MB of free diskspace for
each undo operation that you carry out. So if you regularly edit 2 hour
long programmes, you will need at least 4GB of free space to be able to
reasonably edit the cart.
